Schur Flexibles takes over Swedish packaging manufacturer

The Schur Flexibles Group acquired the Swedish company Scandiflex Pac AB in March 2019. The manufacturer of flexible packaging will operate under the name Schur Flexibles Scandiflex in future, the group of companies headquartered in Wiener Neudorf has announced.

The Schur Flexibles Group acquired the Swedish company Scandiflex Pac AB in March 2019. The manufacturer of flexible packaging will operate under the name Schur Flexibles Scandiflex in future, the group of companies headquartered in Wiener Neudorf has announced.

With the acquisition of all company shares from Scandiflex take the step to the Full-service provider for packaging solutions in the Scandinavian market, explains the group of companies. The company now has a seamless value chain in this market in the areas of Extrusion, Converting and Digital printing. Especially in the area of Flexo printing the company is expanding its expertise in Scandinavia. In digital printing, the new Swedish acquisition will exchange expertise with the French division Schur Flexibles Uni and thus create significant added value.

Schur Flexibles acquires a Scandinavian market leader

Schur-Managing Director Michael Schernthaner says of the new acquisition: „As one of the market leaders in the highly attractive Scandinavian countries and an established provider in flexographic and digital printing, the company will perfectly complement our existing strong presence in Europe as well as our technical expertise.“

120 million euros in sales expected in Scandinavia

With Schur Flexibles Denmark, Schur Flexibles Finland and Danapak Flexibles as well as Scandiflex Pac Shearing now the entire Scandinavian market from. According to the press release, total sales of over 120 million euros are generated there.

Founded in 1985, Scandiflex Pac is today one of Sweden's leading manufacturers of printed, flexible Packaging laminates for the Food industry. The company with headquarters in Landskrona in the southern Swedish province of Scania recently achieved a turnover of just under 20 million euros. According to the company, Scandiflex Pac operates at an efficiency level of almost 100 per cent and uses recycling systems that significantly reduce energy consumption.

Specialist for high-barrier packaging solutions

The Schur Flexibles Group, founded in 2012, is continuing its expansion with the acquisition of Scandiflex-Pac. Several companies were already acquired in 2018, such as Schur Flexibles Uni and parts of the Clondalkin Group. The Group continues to specialise in innovative, high-quality and customised high-barrier packaging solutions for the food, tobacco and pharmaceutical industries. The Group reports total sales of 520 million euros. Around 1,750 people are employed in 15 subsidiaries.
