Sidel's Cermex Evopack offers a wide range of secondary packaging sizes for cartons containing only a few products as well as for large transport cartons with 24+ containers that are repacked.
The flexible Industry 4.0 carton packaging platform for moulded containers in wrap-around blanks, trays and shelf packs is designed to meet the demand for extreme product volumes per carton. "Certain sub-categories and players in the food, household and personal care sectors are achieving a need to adapt up to 40 per cent of their production volumes. Until now, manufacturers have generally met this demand by with manual repacking services", explains Didier Saussereau, Packing Product Manager at Sidel.
Through the Extra packaging material required and the additional manual labour result in costs that exceed what is justifiable in terms of competitiveness and manufacturers' profit margins. The waste generated during repackaging is another negative point in terms of sustainability. Handling the products again can also cause scratches and wear and tear.

At the same time, the need for complex product setups will remain and continue to require manual repackaging. If it is technically possible to pack more products in a carton in advance, manufacturers could ship the same number with less secondary packaging.
