SIG is investing 12 million euros in a pilot plant for the new Tech Centre Europe, which will be built near the SIG packaging plants at the German site in Linnich.
The new Tech Centre is intended to offer SIG customers additional added value and help accelerate the development of new product and packaging innovations, in particular to meet the growing demand for particularly sustainable packaging solutions. The Tech Centre Europe will be an important lever to make the development and validation of such packaging solutions and innovative packaging materials even faster and more efficient.
In the new Tech Centre Europe, the existing R&D facilities „Test Field & Prototype“ and „combiLab“ will be supplemented by a new pilot plant in which state-of-the-art extrusion and finishing technologies as well as sophisticated quality measurement systems and test procedures will be used. This will significantly increase the possibilities and capacities for testing series production capability and maturity, for system validation and for future digital technologies.
