The SIG Terra RecShield BD bag-in-box packaging for wine, equipped with the Terra FlexTap beverage dispenser, has been recognised by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) according to the criteria of the APR Design Guide for Plastics Recyclability. It is the first wine packaging from SIG to receive this award.

The development complements SIG's growing portfolio of recyclable solutions with APR design recognition, which already includes packaging for water (SIG Terra RecShield PE-42B, 2021) and post-mix syrup (SIG Terra RecShield D, 2024). The certification confirms, that the packaging is compatible with the North American recycling system. is.

The new bag-in-box solution has been tested in accordance with the Critical Guidance Protocol (FPE-CG-01 Path 1A) - APR's strictest procedure for assessing recyclability. It combines a highly effective oxygen barrier with user-friendliness and durability during processing, filling and distribution. Both the SIG Terra RecShield BD laminate and the SIG Terra FlexTap can be recycled into new products after use.

According to SIG, the packaging not only fulfils the highest recycling standards, but also also offers product protection and dosing functionality, so that wine producers can combine sustainability and performance. With this innovation, SIG is setting another milestone in sustainable packaging design and underlining its goal of simplifying packaging structures, reducing waste and driving the decarbonisation of global supply chains.
