The 28th Leading International Trade Fair for Wine and Bottling Machines closed its doors successfully and inspired the exhibitors. A wide range of insights into the future of the technology and wine industry were provided.
„The exhibitors' great satisfaction with this 28th event proves that SIMEI is not only a point of reference for the industry, but also continues to grow and flourish. This year, the trade fair stands out above all for its international character, high-calibre training sessions, key protagonists and business deals. Thanks to the digital platform Mymatching, the high-profile target group of visitors with a real interest made it possible to plan and develop concrete encounters. Whilst preserving the vertical orientation in the wine business In 2019, SIMEI organically and structurally linked the liquid food sector and related value chains with oenology, increasingly sharing processes, production methods and, consequently, techniques and accessories.“
Ernesto Abbona, Chairman of Unione Italiana Vini
With these words, Abbona gave a brief summary of the 28th SIMEI, the leading international trade fair for wine and bottling machinery, which ended on 22 November 2019 at Fiera Milano Rho. An event with special guests of international standing, but also with over 33,000 visitors from all over the world, with a Plus from 5% compared with the last event in Milan in 2015. 500 exhibitors and over 500 delegates from 90 countries.
SIMEI, the stage, where the future of wine and the technical innovations of the entire sector were presented, which further improve the quality of the production chain and create new guidelines to respond to a market in constant development and change.
In 2019, in addition to wine, the fair also opened its doors to liquid food, oil, beer and spirits and organised important meetings and tastings, such as the conference on excellence in the spirits industry organised in collaboration with the French Spirits Valley and the Italy-Spain comparison on the packaging and visual design of olive oil.
Large participation in the training seminars
But that's not all. It is also an edition that will go down in history as the first on which the international conference of women in the wine business was organised.
„An exciting experience that exceeded expectations. I am sure that the next events of the fair will see an even stronger presence of women, also considering the data collected in terms of purchasing. Women are the number one wine buyers worldwide, even in the premium segment.“
Donatella Cinelli Colombini, Chairwoman of the Donne del Vino association
Among the most successful training seminars in terms of audience and interest were two sessions with the architect and winery engineer Olivier Chadebost and his teachings on the relationship between architecture and wineries, which must not neglect the aesthetics factor while maintaining their fundamental utility, and the Identity and connection between terroir and people represent.
In a Climate of general satisfaction The biennial SIMEI 2019 came to a close with a large number of exhibitors, visitors and guests, once again asserting its role as the international showcase par excellence for technology in the wine sector. The next SIMEI will take place in 2021.
