Procme: Packaging solutions for PET bottles

Procme offers a complete service for filling, labelling and packaging machines. The company's latest development is called Simpl-Cut.

Procme GmbH offers various solutions for labelling PET bottles. The company has been working with Italian manufacturers for more than 30 years and has been able to develop a high-speed labelling machine based on its experience with P.E. Labellers.

Procme offers a complete service for filling, labelling and packaging machines. The company's latest development is called Simpl-Cut. At Pack Expo Las Vegas 2021, the Simpl-Cut won the „PMMI Technology Excellence Award 2021 - General Packaging“.

Customers all over the world use labelling machines that apply hotmelt labels from a roll. However, this is a relatively cost-intensive technology. The classic cutting and hot melt systems are maintenance-intensive, and necessary cleaning work on the vacuum drums and other surfaces where glue collects often leads to machine downtime.

The Simpl-Cut, on the other hand, is equipped with a equipped with a single drum that applies the glue and then cuts the label. The solution prevents contamination of the vacuum drum and reduces machine downtimes and maintenance costs.

The labeller has an innovative cutting system with just one fixed blade. A new one, Patent-pending quick-release bracket enables the blade to be replaced easily in less than 60 seconds, even by less experienced people.

Simpl-Cut can process both traditional rolls for hotmelt labels and rolls for labels that are pre-glued during roll printing. By dispensing with hot melt when using pre-glued labels, thinner labels can be processed. This leads to material savings and positive sustainability effects. Thanks to its tension-free coil tensioning system, the Simpl-Cut applies even very thin films easily and without damage.

The labelling station is driven by an independent servomotor, which makes the station mechanically independent of the carousel. This system allows Automatic adjustment of the machine as well as the labelling station and thus prevents user errors during the format change.

Carrying handle application for PET shrink packs

Procme offers another packaging solution for PET bottles in the form of Twin Pack handle machines. The Machines for applying carrying handles to PET shrink packs have a compact design and are characterised by simple operation and high accessibility for the operator.

Format changes can be carried out without tools on all machine models. With the flexible label magazine Both self-adhesive carrying handles in combination with cardboard strips and pre-laminated tape can be processed. The cardboard strips can be neutral, coloured or printed with advertising text and/or images. They are also suitable for printing a barcode for the entire container.

Depending on the requirements of the customer line, the machines can be configured as left-hand or right-hand operating variants, and the height can also be customised. For the Attachment of Uni- or Multiclips corresponding machine models are available.

The machines are available in single-lane, double-lane and three-lane versions. In addition to the standard pneumatic machine, the following are available for high-performance operation an electronic machine variant with robot arms available. It achieves an output of up to 120 packs per minute per lane. In the three-lane version, up to 360 packs per minute are possible.

The application system works Fast, precise and even, even at high speeds. Both the continuity of the production line and the reliable strength of the product are guaranteed. Motorised, synchronised upper belts stabilise and accompany the packs during the application of the adhesive tape.

Each application head can Optionally with a second roll holder for self-adhesive tape rolls can be equipped with a length of 5,000 metres. This makes it easier to change rolls more quickly when they come to an end. Alternatively, jumbo rolls with a larger capacity can also be used, which increases the machine's autonomy.

Depending on the product to be processed, the machine can be optionally equipped with a sheeting unit. This unit can be used to position the adhesive grip at the desired sheet height so that the hand can reach the grip loop comfortably and safely when gripping. With a automatic splicing unit the roll that is running low can be automatically merged with the new roll.

In addition to carrying handle applicators, Twin Pack's product range also includes many other special applications, such as special shrink packers for small containers (bottles, composite cartons for drinks). Furthermore Robot-based pick & place packaging machines for different products, which insert products with format-specific grippers into inline manufactured trays/wrap-around cartons.
