In a long-term initiative, PepsiCo and Vytal have joined forces to grow even more strongly together in the away-from-home segment. With the Vytal Pepsi Cup, they now offer a reusable solution that combines measurable sustainability with digital experiences.
The new cup with the Pepsi logo utilises two tracking technologies: a customised QR code for interaction with the customer and an RFID tag for scalable operational processes. Both companies are setting new standards in the industry with the introduction of a traceable cup system, which will be made available via PepsiCo's QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) partners in Germany. Over the next two years, 100,000 of the branded cups will be launched in the markets. The cups will initially be launched via Pizza Hut and other QSRs. Consumers will be able to Register via the Vytal app and return the cup to one of the Vytal partner locations in Germany.
„This partnership underlines our ongoing commitment to the pep+ agenda while supporting our business objectives. By working with Vytal, we are not only intensifying our focus on the away-from-home segment, but also initiating impactful changes that effectively contribute to minimising plastic waste.“
Torben Nielsen, Managing Director of PepsiCo DACH

„To make a real contribution to protecting ecosystems, reusable packaging must work on a mass scale. This requires real added value for end customers and an innovative, scalable approach. The cooperation with PepsiCo makes exactly this possible and creates completely new opportunities for QSRs and the event and entertainment industry.“
Dr Josephine Kreische, Managing Director of Vytal
By combining QR codes and RFID tags, the system enables seamless customer interaction. This makes the Vytal Pepsi Cup the first smart, branded and recyclable open loop cup.
