The Coca-Cola Company is trialling Sprite bottles without labels on the British market. The company wants to simplify the recycling process with the embossed bottles.
On the front of the packaging, the new bottles have a Embossed logo and laser-engraved product information on the back. Like the previous bottles, they are made of clear, 100 per cent recycled plastic and the cap. The advantage: labels no longer need to be removed from the bottles before recycling, even if the labels used previously were fully recyclable. This means that the amount of packaging material used can now be reduced overall.

The trial of the label-free bottles is one of several projects with which the company aims to bring about positive change. For example, the production of the 500 ml Sprite bottles on recycled plastic and the green colour has been removed from the plastic bottles. The company is also investing in new designs to reduce the amount of packaging used, producing lightweight bottles and reduces the materials, used for packing and despatch to the shops.
In one of the twelve Tesco Express stores in Brighton, Bristol, London or Manchester From 1 January to March 2024, the labels on the 500 ml bottles of Sprite and Sprite Zero will be temporarily removed. The varieties can then be recognised by their coloured caps (Sprite has a green cap, Sprite Zero has a transparent cap with a black tint).
