From 25 to 27 November 2025, Messe Nürnberg will once again be the stage for SPS - Smart Production Solutions. The international trade fair has been regarded as a trend barometer for automation for over 30 years and also offers the packaging industry impetus for innovation and competitiveness.
Around 1,150 exhibitors, including industry giants such as Siemens, Beckhoff Automation, Phoenix Contact and Bosch Rexroth, will be presenting the latest technologies for intelligent production in 15 exhibition halls. This year, the focus will be on the use of artificial intelligence in manufacturing. Applications range from predictive maintenance and quality control to adaptive production control - developments that are also highly relevant for packaging processes, as they support efficiency and resource conservation.
Practical insights for packaging technology
Guided tours such as the SmartFactory Kaiserslautern give trade visitors practical insights into key technologies such as AI, digital twins and security in system architecture. These approaches can also be crucial for the packaging industry in order to make production systems more flexible and secure.
Exchange and promotion of young talent
In addition to the exhibitor presentations, SPS 2025 offers a wide-ranging supporting programme. Four stages invite visitors to discuss topics such as digital transformation and sustainable production - aspects that are also increasingly shaping the packaging industry. The trade fair also promotes young talent with formats such as the Makeathon and Young Talents Day, which will benefit the industry in the long term.
With over 51,000 visitors last year, almost a third of whom came from abroad, SPS is regarded as one of the most important platforms for international dialogue on automation solutions - a venue where packaging manufacturers can also find valuable guidance on technological change.
