At the beginning of September, 27 trainees and students started their professional careers at Südpack in Ochsenhausen. During the first few days, they had the opportunity to get to know the company and the other employees.

Despite the ongoing tense situation on the labour and training market, a large number of young people have been recruited this year. 18 trainees for a total of eight training occupations and nine students for five dual study programmes with South pack decided. „We are delighted that our company is once again so attractive to young talent this year and that we were ultimately able to fill all positions,“ emphasises Martina Wesser, Head of HR Services & Training.

The training programme kicked off on 1 September with the now traditional „induction days“. After a warm welcome from Birgit Schechner, Vice President HR & IT, Martina Wesser and Head of Training Dr Stephanie Würfl, the first item on the agenda was to get to know each other in Ochsenhausen. A barbecue, where the „newcomers“ were able to socialise with the trainees and students from the last two years of training, concluded the kick-off event.

„At the beginning, it is immensely important to arrive, to find each other as a group, to get to know future colleagues, managers and trainers and training officers and to get into the mood for the new phase of life as relaxed as possible. The day-to-day routine will then quickly take care of itself.„

In the days that followed, the young trainees familiarised themselves with the values and rules for good cooperation - both elementary components of the values mission statement and an important foundation for cultural understanding at Südpack. There was also a joint team training session in the Wallenhausen forest ropes course and a detailed tour of the company.

The first few days met with a consistently positive response from all future top performers. An important aspect, says Birgit Schechner, because „we are setting the course - and preparing the trainees and students for an exciting training programme with mature support programme and individual support a. The quality of our training is crucial for the continued, healthy development of our company and the people who are responsible for and contribute to our success.“

„The teenagers and young adults who start their careers with us in the various apprenticeships or with a dual study programme are the skilled workers of tomorrow. We need nimble hands and clever minds more than ever if the transformation process in the plastics and packaging industry is to succeed, new technologies, business models and products are to be developed, the prosperity of all of us is to be secured and our environment and climate are to be better protected.“
