One of Schubert's central corporate goals is to support consumer goods manufacturers on their path to a sustainable future. This is why Schubert is constantly developing its modular machine technology.
As an example of the new resource-saving „Power Compact“ machine concept, which stands for high performance in the smallest of spaces with lean but high-quality technology, a bar packer with single-lane erector and feeding by Comfort Feeder will be working on the stand. Erecting, filling and closing takes place at 60 cycles per minute: a small number of system components whose performance can be fully utilised thanks to the single-lane processing of the cartons, lightweight, partly 3D-printed robot tools and a blank feeder that enables continuous operation for up to five hours without refilling.
Packaging in fully recyclable cardboard boxes is already replacing conventional variants with plastic film or plastic labels in many cases. The blanks fed in via the Comfort Feeder can be optimised in advance for the greatest possible recycling of the packaging material. This is because the precise, robot-assisted filling in the top-loading process is particularly suitable for placing products precisely into narrow cartons and saving packaging volume - incidentally one of the requirements of the new PPWR.
The Schubert experts will also show how the sustainable potential of the interaction between packaging and machine technology can be utilised. Whether existing cartons are to become machine-compatible, new cardboard packaging is required instead of plastic packaging or alternatives are developed together with a packaging manufacturer. That Schubert uses its decades of experience with cardboard as a material and the invention of innovative technologies to develop more sustainable packaging solutions, as visitors can see with Dotlock. This is a new technology for joining packaging made of solid or corrugated cardboard completely glue-free, but with the same strength as glued packaging. In future, the erecting process for dotlock packaging will be fully integrated into the packaging line.
