With dfoil, Steinemann is introducing a unique option for its digital coating machines in the dmax series that enables digital foil embossing without embossing tools. The embossing process developed by Steinemann is designed for production speeds of up to 5,800 sheets per hour.
According to the Swiss company, dmax machines equipped with dfoil are currently the only industrial production systems in the world that can produce high-quality Digital painting and Digital foil stamping in a single operation with high productivity. In addition, dmax systems with an integrated dfoil module are characterised by an attractive design based on Steinemann's extremely robust mechanical engineering and uncompromisingly guarantee the reliability that is a basic prerequisite for economic efficiency in industrial production environments.
In practice
The first dfoil system will be installed at a customer in Q2 2017. Delivery to other dmax customers will begin in Q3 2017. dfoil is available for all dmax machines. Steinemann will use the Hunkeler Innovationdays 2017 in Lucerne to inform visitors about the dfoil system at its information stand in Hall 1 and present the high embossing quality of the new option for its dmax series using samples.
With dfoil, both flat and continuously raised foil applications with embossing effects can be realised in the shortest possible set-up times. The film tension is controlled automatically, while high-performance Indexing systems ensure optimum utilisation of the foils and thus the cost-effectiveness of foil stamping. The fact that no embossing tools are required for digital foil embossing with dfoil also supports both the efficiency of the process and the convenience for the machine operators. An optional integrated electric lifting device further increases the convenience and speed of set-up. The lifting device moves the film shafts in and out in next to no time at the touch of a button.

The options for expanding the functionality of the dmax models include a roller coating unit, which enables customers to flexibly choose between digital spot coating and full-surface coating for gloss, matt and soft-touch coating or primer for various jobs in their day-to-day business.
