Together with partners, Novamont has launched the first compostable stick pack on the market, which has a high proportion of renewable raw materials and a low environmental impact.
MixMe is a multivitamin and multimineral food supplement from DSM Nutritional Products, which was developed to combat malnutrition in developing countries and has been marketed in numerous countries for years. Now it is also in compostable packaging that contains a high proportion of renewable raw materials and has a low environmental impact. shows. The result of the collaboration between Novamont and partners in the supply chain.
The new stickpack is made from paper laminate and a Mater bioplastic film from Novamont, is compostable and can be recycled with organic household waste. It has now been presented to the trade public for the first time at K in Düsseldorf.
The sustainable application is the result of the collaboration between Novamont and Ticinoplast, SAES Coated Films and Gualapack, an all-Italian supply chain. With their respective expertise, the four partners have been working together intensively for many years. Research and development work in the field of biodegradable materials, functional materials and their further processing for the packaging sector with regard to the recycling of resources and the decarbonisation of production processes.
Compared to conventional packaging made of PET, aluminium and PE, the new paper and film packaging is made of Mater-Bi - Novamont's bioplastic obtained from raw materials of plant origin - and is therefore Compostable according to the EN 13432 standard and contains over 65 per cent renewable raw materials.
The water-based technology of the biodegradable Coathink coating from SAES Coated Films offers a high moisture and oxygen barrier, This is a prerequisite for optimum preservation of the powdered product and its micronutrient content throughout its shelf life. Thanks to its good sealability, the packaging can be processed on conventional automatic packaging lines are used. The innovative packaging not only guarantees the same durability and performance as conventional laminates, but also solves the problem of recycling small packaging made from non-separable laminated materials.
