Mosca GmbH wants to avoid using new material wherever possible in the production of strapping. This requires efficient recycling of PET and PP strapping, which Interzero takes care of. In order to know the status of the recycled material, Mosca now relies on Interzero's material account.

The basic materials used for strapping - mainly PET and PP - are easy to recycle. As a manufacturer of packaging security systems Mosca The proportion of PP belts is between 30 and 100 per cent, depending on the belt size. At Mosca, PET is made entirely from recycled material. „As a company that operates sustainably, we attach great importance to a careful use of primary resources and consistent recycling of PET and PP,“ emphasises Simone Mosca, Managing Director of Mosca GmbH. This not only ensures independence from often volatile raw material markets, but also enables controlled production of the important straps in high quality.

To achieve these goals, Mosca has been cooperating since autumn 2023 with Interzero. „Sustainable action thrives on strong partnerships along the value chain that support us in implementing an effective circular economy,“ says Ann Mertens, Sustainability Officer at Mosca. In addition to recycling, Interzero also handles the following for Mosca upstream and downstream logistics in the long termIn future, the company will collect used tapes from end customers and deliver the shredded or recycled raw material back to the Waldbrunn-based company. Particularly important: Transparency about the recycling process and the available quantities of PET and PP.

„With the material account, we offer our partners a digital twin of their raw material and cycle management, which they can use to track the status of recycled materials at any time, strategically secure access to raw materials and close loops.“

The material account provides information on how much PET and PP has been collected, is currently being recycled or can be reused. Similar to a bank account the digital platform shows how much „credit“ Mosca currently has at its disposal to produce new belts - only in tonnes of material instead of euros. „This not only allows us to control our belt production precisely, but also to maintain access to important raw materials - in line with our motto ‚Nonstop Performance‘,“ emphasises Simone Mosca.

Last but not least, the solution supports a Seamless reportingSustainability reports and consolidated financial statements: Continuously recorded data on the circular economy plays a key role in the context of sustainability reports and consolidated financial statements.

„Thanks to the platform, we not only know where our PET and PP is currently located, but also how much of it we have recycled each year - creating an important basis for transparent sustainability communication.“
