TotalEnergies has added a new grade of low linear density polyethylene (VLLDPE) to its portfolio. The new grade „Advanced Supertough 12AST05“ is intended to improve the mechanical properties of films and at the same time promote the recyclability of stretch bonnet applications.
With „Advanced Supertough 12AST05“, the TotalEnergies a new polyethylene grade onto the market that fulfils the Optimise the recyclability of packaging and reduce production costs should. It impresses with its high mechanical performance and improved sealing properties. The polyethylene grade is characterised by a very low linear density, which makes it particularly suitable for film applications. Thanks to good mechanical and optical properties as well as improved sealing behaviour, the Advanced Supertough 12AST05 is said to make the Supporting the recyclability of stretch bonnets and flexible packaging.
According to TotalEnergies, this VLLDPE grade can be used in formulations aimed at replacing ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) to ensure better recyclability. Olivier Greiner, Vice President, Polymers Europe & Orient at TotalEnergies, emphasises:
„This new grade demonstrates our innovative strength, which helps our customers to increase the recyclability of their packaging.“
In addition, the new type reduces lower sealing temperature by two degrees reduces production costs, as fewer plastomers are required in the welding layer.
