The dvi student conference took place for the seventh time in Berlin at the beginning of November. The event brought together students and experts from member companies of the German Packaging Institute to exchange ideas and network.
„Bringing the right people together is one of the dvi's core competences. This applies not only to current stakeholders along the value chain, but also to those who will continue to write the packaging success story of tomorrow and beyond. The dvi student conference is an important cornerstone of the dvi's work with young talent. This year's student conference impressively demonstrated that such initiatives pay off and meet with strong interest from students and companies. It was no coincidence that among the company representatives we had specialists who had met their current employer as students at the conference the year before last and are already doing significant work today. This is what real success stories look like. They prove that win-win at the dvi is not just an empty promise.“

At the start of the conference at the DIN premises, the participating member companies of the dvi to the students. As An experienced professional and a newcomer presented their work in tandem from Beiersdorf, Coca-Cola, DALLI, Pöppelmann, Procter & Gamble and Smurfit Kappa, not only the respective company, but also ongoing youngster projects from their organisations.
Afterwards, it was time for the workshops to get down to specific work. Each company had prepared its own workshop, with topics ranging from Packaging optimisation with a view to customer interaction and sustainability, options in the development of sustainable packaging, opportunities and expectations in the context of the digital revolution on primary packaging to the Case Study on Product & Packaging Development. The students were able to take part in two workshops in separate sessions.
„The feedback from the students and company representatives was once again very good. While the companies benefit from the fresh ideas of the new generation and gain an unadulterated insight into the expectations and demands of the younger generation, the students can gain valuable experience of how things are created and which requirements need to be taken into account when developing packaging. The students“ enthusiasm, thirst for knowledge and diverse ideas have left a lasting impression."

The evening event at the Berliner Café am Neuen See was also about getting to know each other better and networking. During speed dating at the companies' tables, both sides had the opportunity to Deepen initial contact and gain honest feedback. Students also had the opportunity to explore opportunities for Bachelor's and Master's theses, internships and career opportunities. However, the young talent also used the sociable conclusion of the conference to to network across universities and discuss among fellow students.
„As the lecturers from the universities who travelled with us told us, the demand among students is enormous. It far exceeds the places available at the conference. The companies have also confirmed the effectiveness of the event time and time again. We will retain the location and the organisation of the conference and I am sure that we will once again be able to report on success stories and initiate new ones at the eighth dvi student conference.“
