
The Shanghai World of Packaging - swop for short - took place in Shanghai at the end of November. Almost 900 exhibitors came to the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and showcased their solutions for the international processing and packaging industry.
The event was organised by swop together from the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Centre (Shanghai) Co, Ltd. and Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd. During the three days of the fair, leading industry representatives, experts and visitors from all over the world met to discuss the latest Technologies and trends in the industry. The successful conclusion of the trade fair marks another milestone in the packaging industry. The swop will take place annually from now on.
With over 62,000 square metres of exhibition space, this year's swop attracted The event attracted almost 900 exhibitors from Germany and abroad and welcomed 30,000 visitors from 99 countries and regions - compared to 22,997 in 2019, meaning that the three-day event recorded a remarkable 14 per cent increase in visitors compared to the previous event.

Leading Chinese and international companies ensured a large crowd at the trade fair. The German Pavilion was once again filled with high-calibre companies. They showcased the latest innovative packaging systems, materials and products, trends in processing and packaging as well as advanced solutions from Germany.
The trade fair was supported by over 100 national and international industry associations, for example from the food, chemicals, plastics, printing and packaging sectors. In addition, around 300 visitor groups from China, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America and Europe were welcomed to the trade fair.

With the focus on sustainable packaging and the reduction of CO2-emissions a new themed area was introduced at swop 2023 - the „Green Power Zone“. More than 150 exhibitors presented a variety of environmentally friendly packaging materials, production equipment and solutions that help packaging companies and brands achieve their sustainability goals.
