Sustainability as a strategic core

Sustainability is not a short-term trend for Südpack, but an integral part of the corporate strategy 2030. The film manufacturer invests in mechanical and chemical recycling, reduces its own CO₂ emissions and develops materials that are resource-saving, recyclable and high-performance at the same time. According to the latest progress report, emissions have been reduced by 24 per cent since 2021, and the climate targets have been met by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validated, and in the EcoVadis rating the company has achieved platinum status. With the service EcoTrace Südpack also offers its customers a reliable life cycle assessment of flexible packaging solutions.

New CarbonLite monomaterial family

One highlight of the trade fair appearance is the new product family CarbonLite. These PP and PE-based monomaterials enable packaging concepts such as flowpacks for cheese pieces or herb baguettes, doypacks for snacks, block bottom bags for coffee or spouted pouches for fruit purees. They can be processed on existing systems at high cycle rates, have customisable barrier properties and reliable sealing performance - even with complex configurations with zippers, valves or spouts made from the same mono-material. Thanks to their lower weight and the absence of material composites, they significantly reduce the carbon footprint of the packaging.

Recyclable thermoformed packaging and trays

SÜDPACK presents a wide range of recyclable thermoforming films and tray concepts for meat, sausage and cheese packaging. In addition to rigid and flexible films with outstanding processing reliability, the top film Peel PET floatable is a speciality: It floats in the recycling process and separates from the bottom film or tray, which makes it easier to recycle by type.

Resource-saving skin films

Also in the area of Skin packaging the films have been further developed. They wrap around the product like a second skin, prevent leakage and extend shelf life - even with sharp-edged or bony pieces of meat. The highly transparent materials are compatible with PP, PE and PET and offer additional presentation options at the point of sale, for example for hanging product displays.

Future-orientated solutions for the industry

With sustainable materials, technical expertise and a broad portfolio, Südpack wants to offer manufacturers solutions today that will meet the future requirements of the EU packaging regulation (PPWR) do justice to this. The company sees itself as a driving force in the industry and works continuously to advance the circular economy and resource efficiency in plastic packaging practice.
