This year SP GROUPa Spanish manufacturer of flexible, rigid and thermoformable vacuum packaging, has launched the first recyclable, sterilisable Solution with strong barrier Polypropylene-based for vacuum-packed food in the retail sector. This innovation will be presented at the FACHPACK 2022 in Hall 7, Stand 646 presented.
Thanks to its high sealing capacity and barrier is suitable PP HB ECOTOP as a material for lids for semi-rigid and thermoformable bases and for PP trays. When used with a semi-rigid, thermoformable base made from RST B ECO, it is ideal for vacuum packaging food, as the packaged product retains its properties and shelf life for longer. The innovation in this case is based on an environmentally friendly mono-material that can be recycled in the PP cycle. The main environmental benefits are the reduction of food waste and packaging material and the prevention of contamination.
The lid made of PP HB ECOTOP can also be used together with a rigid PP base for other types of food in the hot packaging category, e.g. rice cups, jam, baby compote, etc.
SP GROUP is thus expanding its range of sustainable solutions in addition to its existing PP-based products such as the flexible monomaterial PP HB ECOwhich is characterised by the possibility of heat treatment without loss of its recycling properties.
