At drupa, Mosca will be focussing on digital, resource-efficient strapping and wrapping solutions. The company will be presenting a fully automatic pallet strapping machine and a strapping solution as a tandem machine, which enable location- and time-independent monitoring with a new digital package.
Today's transport security is no longer just about the ideal protection of products. In view of rising raw material prices, high cycle times and customer demands for climate-friendly processes, companies have to adapt their packaging solutions to complex challenges. In the printing and print media industry, innovation, flexibility and efficiency are therefore also required at the end of the packaging line. The fully automatic KZV-111 machine from Mosca not only enables secure strapping of uncompacted load units on pallets of all shapes and sizes, but also strapping with particularly low emissions thanks to SoniXs ultrasonic technology.
The KZV-111 recognises the size of the packages via an integrated light barrier, moves the strap guide tongue between the wooden members of the pallet and straps them twice. The optional edge protection prevents the strap from cutting into very sensitive products. Thanks to these functions, the KZV-111 enables Flexible, product-friendly and cost-effective strapping. SoniXs ultrasonic technology also ensures greater resource efficiency during the strapping process:
„This sealing technology joins the ends of the plastic strap without any warm-up time. As a result, the machine only consumes energy during the sealing process, increasing efficiency and reducing operating costs. The process also ensures operator safety, as it does not release heat, smoke or vapours.“
Alex Jesser, Product Marketing Manager at Mosca
The SoniXs unit is secured with quick-release fasteners so that it can be easily removed for maintenance purposes. The SoniXs TR-Connect strapping machine and the SoniXs TRI-Connect inline strapping machine ensure more networked end processes for packaging in the printing industry. fully automatic modules carry out automatic cross strapping out. The SoniXs TR-Connect performs the transverse strapping; the SoniXs TRI-Connect additionally straps the product lengthwise. On the Trade fair the process is demonstrated using both PP tape and a combination of PP and paper tape with a width of 5 mm, thus demonstrating a supplement to conventional plastic tapes for low-load applications. The tandem machine is operated via a tablet - thanks to a WLAN module integrated into both models.

In addition, the new interface allows both systems to be easily integrated into existing production lines - individually or in combination. „Using the WebHMI integrated as standard, operators can control all retrieve machine-relevant data such as availability, performance and quality in real time and flexibly customised,“ explains Jesser. Both solutions also allow up to 3 programmes to be saved with exact parameters for ideal strapping.
The new digital package, which provides even more flexibility Location- and time-independent monitoring of the strapping machines is made possible. Mosca provides all relevant data, including machine efficiency, throughput, operating time and warnings, via a cloud. This allows faults to be rectified more quickly and expensive downtimes to be minimised. „The optional digital package enables operators in the printing industry to develop an optimisation strategy based on the machine and operating data and make their processes even more efficient,“ explains Jesser.

Mosca will also be exhibiting the Saturn S6 stretch wrapper at the trade fair stand: The fully automatic, space-saving ring wrapper from subsidiary Movitec wraps up to 120 pallets per hour. The additional cover film ensures that products are not only protected from dirt, water and dust not only from the sides but also from above are. The machine uses various wrapping programmes to adapt the parameters to the specific product and load security, thus minimising damage and possible returns. Pre-stretching the film by up to 300 per cent (optionally variable up to 400 per cent) also increases resource efficiency.
The RO-M Fusion entry-level machine also straps in a product-specific and sustainable manner. With the help of light barriers, the machine recognises the product height and automatically readjusts the strap tension value. This can be saved in the system as required and called up at any time. In addition, the RO-M Fusion straps extremely soft packages gently in soft strapping mode with Up to 30 per cent recycled polypropylene (PP) at 5 mm strip width and with up to 100 per cent recycled PP from 8 mm strip width.
In order to provide customers with ideal support in the area of resource efficiency in future, the company has developed the new TechCentre in Waldbrunn opened. There, the company tests transport safety devices under simulated extreme conditions. „The tests allow us to recognise potential for improvement and work with our customers to find efficient, material-saving solutions,“ says Jesser. Mosca experts will be on hand to answer questions about the range of services and testing options at the trade fair stand in Düsseldorf.
