German Sustainability Award launches new design award

Starting this year, the DNP Design will honour exemplary examples of sustainable design. The new award is based on the goals of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and thus on the key areas of transformation such as climate, biodiversity, resources and participation.

Pioneering icons, innovative pioneers and visions for the future wanted

The award recognises particularly sustainable solutions in the form of products, services and systems in the following areas or areas of need: Construction and furnishings, clothing and accessories, communication, mobility and transport, health and care, Packaging, leisure and tourism, food and agriculture, information and education as well as work and office.

The packaging sector is one of the many sectors targeted by the new award. From production to disposal, packaging contributes to CO2 emissions. Environmentally friendly design solutions are required that Packaging materials reduce, optimise or, ideally, make them superfluous.

Criteria such as resource efficiency, environmental compatibility and fair supply chains stand alongside design quality, aesthetics and functionality. In addition to current pioneers, the award also recognises Design icons and design concepts for the future.

Companies, designers within and outside agencies, students and start-ups can apply.
