Henkel Adhesive Technologies was honoured with the FINAT Sustainability Award 2024. The award was presented at the Sustainable Packaging Summit in Amsterdam. This award recognises the innovative Aquence PS 3017 RE adhesive, which is designed to optimise the recycling process for PET bottles.

Henkel Adhesive Technologies was presented with the FINAT Sustainability Award 2024 in the „Optimisation of recycling“ category at the Sustainable Packaging Summit in Amsterdam. The international organisation of the label industry recognised the development of Aquence PS 3017 RE, a water-based acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive, which was specially developed for olefinic film labels on PET bottles.

The adhesive enables a Effective washability at low temperatures of 65 °C and thus helps to reduce energy consumption in the recycling process. At the same time, the purity of the recycled PET material is increased, which improves its recyclability. The recyclability of the product was tested by the cyclos-HTP Institute certified.

According to Henkel, Aquence PS 3017 RE has already been tested on high-speed labelling systems and qualified for well-known detergent brands. The product was first launched at Labelexpo 2023 and met with great interest from label manufacturers and brand suppliers. With the aim of further promoting sustainability, Henkel plans to optimise the adhesive for further applications and expand its collaboration with label manufacturers.
