The new Sustainable Liquid Interleaving spray system from Multivac eliminates the need for standard release film when slicing and packaging cheese, raw ham and vegan products.
With the Sustainable Liquid Interleaving spray system, Multivac is now presenting a sustainable solution for packaging thinly sliced or highly adhesive sliced products. This means that the usual Release film for food (interleaver) between the slices can be dispensed with - and plastic consumption during packaging can be reduced to a necessary minimum.
Thinly sliced cheese, raw ham and vegan products can be presented attractively in the pack and individual slices can be removed cleanly by the end consumer. The new System can be integrated into existing slicer lines - and is now available for individual tests and product-specific developments in the new competence centre for slicers and automation solutions.

Precision nozzles of the spray system atomise a liquid, tasteless and odourless release agent, which is matched to the respective product properties of the cold cuts, e.g. the fat content. It is applied evenly to the underside of the slices. This reduces the adhesion between the individual slices, but does not noticeably change the product itself (taste, smell, colour). This process is already common practice in the food industry, e.g. for baked goods or sweets.
„With Sustainable Liquid Interleaving, we would like to offer our customers a further solution for the sustainable processing and packaging of their products. You are invited to visit our new competence centre to get an idea of our new solution. We will carry out customised tests there with your sliced products and develop a tailor-made system that is optimally designed for the respective product characteristics and requirements of your slicer solution.“ Manfred Achenbach, Senior Vice President of the Slicing division
Multivac has opened the new competence centre for slicers and automation solutions, the so-called Training and Application Centre (TAC), went into operation at the headquarters in Wolfertschwenden at the beginning of the year. Almost all solutions from the portfolio that are used in the food industry can be found there. Complete lines are presented, from the infeed to the end-of-line area, which are customised to the needs of customers. The spectrum ranges from the demonstration of individual slicers to the presentation of loading solutions after slicing through to the actual packaging process.
