Berry has launched a recyclable alternative to coloured PET tablet bottles. The new polypropylene bottles are said to have a lower carbon footprint and better recyclability compared to PET containers.
Packaging manufacturer Berry Global has developed a range of packaging solutions under the ClariPPil brand. Bottles made from clarified polypropylene (PP) for healthcare applications, which are designed to offer greater sustainability and better product protection compared to conventional coloured PET pill bottles.
The new bottle is suitable for a wide range of products such as vitamins, food supplements, nutritional supplements, beauty products and OTC treatments and, in combination with Berry's PP closures, has a RecyClass A certification for their recyclability in countries with an appropriate recycling infrastructure.
ClariPPil bottles are available in the colours green, light brown and dark brown to meet the requirements of different product types. On request also customised colours are produced. While similar packaging made from coloured PET can pose a challenge for the recycling stream, the coloured ClariPPil bottles largely recyclable in countries with an appropriate recycling infrastructure. According to Berry, it is equally important that the new manufacturing technology for the bottle leads to a Reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions by around 71 per cent compared to the conventional injection stretch blow moulding process for PET bottles. In addition to these improved sustainability benefits, ClariPPil bottles also offer up to 84 per cent better Protection against the ingress of moisture compared to PET.
The bottles are available in 100, 120 and 150 ml sizes and have a universal 38 mm neck, which ensures compatibility with a range of standard fasteners, including Childproof options, guaranteed. In addition to the choice of colours, the design also offers a large decoration area for the individual design of the brand.
