Greif, a global provider of industrial packaging products and services, has announced the launch of its GCUBE Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC), which contains transparent post-consumer resin (PCR) in the IBC bladder.
The inner layer of this sustainable bladder is made from 100 per cent virgin high-density polyethylene (HDPE), while the two outer layers are made from a blend of PCR. The virgin HDPE inner layer and the precise selection of PCR ensure the Product quality.
According to the company, an internal analysis has shown that this is the CO2 footprint of the bubble by up to 38 per cent and for the entire IBC by up to 11 per cent.
Availability guaranteed
The GCUBE PCR bubbles are currently available from the Italian gripper plant available in Castenedolo, where they are developed and produced using PCR from the IBC collection service. Extruded on site at the recycling centre have been launched. They will soon be available in the company's global network of GCUBE IBC productions, including Germany. They will also be available in the Netherlands, Russia, China, Spain and the USA.
„Sustainability is one of Greif's guiding principles. Over the past ten years, a large part of our innovation strategy has focussed on the development of products that are less new goods and more recycled components while still meeting performance requirements so that we can achieve all key waste reduction targets. The GCUBE PCR bubble is another significant development in this area“. explains Luca Bettoni, Global IBC Product Manager.
The GCUBE PCR bladder offers the same features as Greif's standard IBC bladder, including transparency, and is suitable for non-UN and non-food products such as lubricating oils and AdBlue.
The GCUBE PCR bubble is an extension of the EcoBalance product line from Greif, which includes drums and other shipping containers made with PCR. The EcoBalance product line supports many of Greif's customers with their sustainability goals, including reducing CO2 emissions, energy consumption and landfill waste.
