Mondi is showcasing two new recyclable packaging products at Anuga FoodTec - a paper-based tray and a semi-rigid plastic tray. Both solutions protect fresh food at all stages of the production and logistics process.
Performing Monoloop is a Mouldable and recyclable paper-based solution for sliced foods such as cheese or meat. The paper tray with barrier layer is combined with a plastic top film solution, which provides good product protection and reduces plastic consumption.
The barrier layer can be Easily separate from the paper tray, so that all elements can be disposed of separately in the correct waste streams. Performing Monoloop, recyclable certified by the institute cyclos-HTP, offers the food manufacturer a high degree of flexibility as it is suitable for multiple depths and moulds for use on existing lines.
Sustainability takes centre stage
Mono Formable PP is a recyclable MAP solution with high barrier properties made from the monomaterial polypropylene (PP). With a printed top film and a supplementary thermoformable, semi-rigid bottom film the fully recyclable packaging weighs around 30 per cent less than a comparable polyester (PET) tray of the same thickness, while offering the same high level of product protection.
The solution can replace the industry standard of multi-material non-recyclable PET trays and comes with a range of features such as Easy-Peel for easy opening and/or reclosing available.
„Sustainability is at the forefront when we design new solutions, whereby we Paper whenever possible and plastic where appropriate, use. We are thinking deeply about materials and taking a holistic approach that supports the development of sustainable systems and circular economies. We are excited to showcase these new food packaging solutions at Anuga FoodTec, where Mondi will be exhibiting for the first time.“
