Sweet Week in the spirit of sustainability and networking

ProSweets Cologne will take place from 28 to 31 January together with the ISM confectionery trade fair in Cologne. The combination of the two trade fairs as part of a „Sweet Week“ promises not only the latest innovations in the industry, but also a value-added specialist programme and new interactive event formats.

ProSweets Cologne, the only supplier trade fair exclusively for the confectionery and snack industry, will take place from 28 to 31 January together with the ISM confectionery trade fair in Cologne. The combination of the two trade fairs as part of a „Sweet Week“ promises not only the latest innovations in the industry, but also a value-added specialist programme and new interactive event formats.

The Event programme of ProSweets Cologne 2024 will be more practice-orientated than ever before. Visitors can expect many highlights, such as the Expert Stage shared with the ISMThe programme on the Expert Stage in the central boulevard includes exciting trend presentations and many industry-specific focal points. Experts from the industry will open up new perspectives, provide insights into the latest research findings and report on best practice examples.

Whether edible packaging made from algae, foams made from mushrooms or biodegradable capsules for powders and liquids: Companies in the confectionery industry now have a wide range of biocircular packaging materials at their disposal, with which they can proactively promote the transformation towards a circular economy. Hon. Prof. Dr Sascha Peters presents some of the latest packaging innovations that the „Haute Innovation“ agency has put together for the Sustainable Packaging Special Show.

About the latest scientific Findings from the organic circular economy in the packaging industry reports Mara Strenger from the Sustainable Packaging Institute SPI. And Michael Graf, Schuber-Consulting, presents the best-practice example „New Packaging Perspectives-Schubert's glue-free and hybrid packaging“.

Guided Tours

The international confectionery trade association Sweets Global Network e. V. is organising guided tours for the first time, from the ISM to selected exhibitors at ProSweets Cologne. The Guided Tours focus on the topics of innovation and sustainability. Sustainability is also one of the most important trends in the packaging sector. The DLG therefore organises daily guided tours on the topic of „Sustainable packaging concepts and processes“.

The Special area on the topic of sustainable packaging solutions, supported by Sustainable Packaging Institute (SPI), pacoon sustainability concepts and Haute Innovation impressively demonstrates how packaging can be made more sustainable, focussing on the topics of biogenic raw materials, process technology and process design, functional materials, smart packaging, preservation and packaging as well as bioeconomy and sustainability.
