The Shanghai World of Packaging (swop) presented itself in 2024 as a central platform for innovation and exchange in the packaging industry. With more than 900 exhibitors and over 33,000 trade visitors, the trade fair focused on digitalisation, sustainability and new market trends.

The swop 2024 attracted international attention. As part of the interpack alliance The trade fair attracted over 900 exhibitors from numerous industrialised nations and 33,192 visitors. It offered a platform for dialogue on topics such as Supply chain transparency and new packaging solutions.

One focus was on innovations in the areas of digitalisation and sustainability. Leading companies such as Youngsun and Hualian presented technologies for increasing efficiency and traceability in production, while suppliers such as Haitian and Huawei showcased sustainable packaging products. In the FMCG Packaging Pavilion, special attention was paid to Consumer-orientated solutions including biodegradable mailing bags and customised packaging for food and beverages.

The trade fair also offered a Extensive supporting programme. Expert forums and technology exchange formats focussed on topics such as digital packaging trends, green materials and sustainable e-commerce solutions. One highlight was the Save Food Forum, which was organised in cooperation with the FAO China and highlighted the role of packaging in reducing food waste.

The Save Food Design and Sustainability Design Awards China were presented for the first time, recognising innovative approaches to sustainable packaging. The winners included companies such as Multivac and Koch Pac-Systeme. The next swop will take place from 25 to 27 November 2025 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre and is once again expected to be a key platform for the packaging industry.
