With the new MLD Advanced, Syntegon offers a flexible high-performance system for filling ready-to-use (RTU) syringes. The system combines proven technologies, 100 per cent in-process control (IPC) and high product yield.
Syntegon has opened its new filling line MLD Advanced for ready-to-use (RTU) nest syringes. The solution is aimed at pharmaceutical manufacturers with high output requirements and simultaneously offers maximum product yield and process reliability thanks to a 100 per cent in-process control (IPC). The MLD Advanced was presented virtually for the first time at Interphex and is now officially available on the market.
Technology transfer from cartridges to syringes
The MLD Advanced is based on the proven MLD platform, which was previously used primarily for cartridges and vials. The combination with syringe technologies from the FXS series creates a modular system with high flexibility and efficiency. A special feature is the all-round clip transport system, which enables particularly gentle glass-to-glass contact-free transport of the syringes. This makes the system suitable for syringes as well as for vials and cartridges.
The automatic separation is carried out by means of Syntegon's Pharma Handling Unit, which removes the RTU syringes from the nests without touching the glass and guides them through the entire process - from weighing and filling to the final return to the nest.
At the centre of MLD Advanced is seamless monitoring of the filling process. Each syringe is weighed before and after filling. Thanks to the IPK, the filling weight is precisely recorded and documented. The filling needles mounted on the Pharma Handling Unit also enable flexible refilling, which means that even the smallest deviations in the filling volume can be corrected immediately can. Depending on the requirements, tamping is carried out using a vacuum or a setting tube.

Market launch and first installation
Even before the official market launch, Syntegon a first customer order: The first MLD Advanced will be installed at a European pharmaceutical manufacturer and will be used in the future for up to 400 syringes per minute process. In addition to the high output, the solution offers the advantage of rapid availability - as only established Syntegon technologies are used, risks in commissioning and validation are significantly reduced.
The new system offers manufacturers a scalable solution with maximum process reliability, reduced product loss and high operating efficiency - and thus emphasises the company's claim to provide innovative and economical solutions for the pharmaceutical industry.
