Syntegon subsidiary celebrates anniversary

Ampack celebrated its 50th anniversary in September. The company has been developing filling and packaging technology since 1973.

In September, Syntegon subsidiary Ampack celebrated its 50th anniversary at its site in Königsbrunn. The company has been developing filling and packaging technology for the dairy and food industry since 1973. 

The Syntegon subsidiary Ampack GmbH has reason to celebrate: the company has been producing in Königsbrunn, Bavaria, for half a century. Filling and packaging machines for the dairy and food industry. On 23 September, the company therefore invited customers, employees, relatives and representatives from politics and business to its anniversary celebrations in Königsbrunn.

The engineer Siegfried Ammann founded the company 50 years ago under the name Ampack Ammann and began selling packaging machines for dairy products. This was followed in 1976 by the market launch of the first fully automatic cup filling and sealing machine. In 1996, the company was already so large that a new company building was constructed at Lechfeldgraben 7 in Königsbrunn. Another milestone followed in 2012 with the affiliation to Bosch Packaging Technology - Syntegon since 2020 - and access to an international network.

Since then, the machine manufacturer has invested in technological development: Ampack now develops Filling and closing machines for preformed cups and bottles - and thus enables dairies and food manufacturers to package liquid and viscous foods in all hygiene levels. The company also supports customers with the Planning and integration of complete production lines - from filling to final packaging and palletising. And that's not all: in 2017, the technical centre, a 450 m2 large research and development centre. Together with customers, Ampack tests and develops sterilisation processes, sealing and dosing technologies as well as sustainable packaging solutions and retrofits for existing machines on state-of-the-art equipment.

More than 1700 machines installed worldwide underline this. Thanks to close cooperation and application-orientated development expertise, Ampack has become a pioneer for aseptic technology in Europe and today offers customers a Broad portfolio of modular machines that cover all hygiene levels.

In addition to flexible lines that can be quickly converted to different products and formats, sustainable solutions in particular are playing an increasingly important role for customers. In addition to the tried-and-tested FCL filling machine for ultra-clean and aseptic applications, the company therefore launched the LFS in 2021, which is suitable for clean and ultra-clean applications and fills products such as yoghurt, dips and deli salads. Both Machine types process sustainable materials such as paper or mono-materials, which ensure better recyclability of the packaging. Ampack is also focussing on continuous further development for the coming years and is already working on new, future-oriented technologies.

Sustainable commitment is not only reflected in development - the machine manufacturer also focusses on long-term prospects for its own workforce. „Numerous employees have been with Ampack for many years. We offer a lot of variety and opportunities for further training. Young talent in particular appreciates this and we are delighted to welcome motivated trainees from the region every year,“ says Dr Alexander Schmidt, Managing Director of Ampack GmbH in Königsbrunn.

The company is also regionally committed to the Fritz-Felsenstein-Haus, a competence centre for the physically disabled and people with multiple disabilities. For example, the company dedicates an annual Christmas gift campaign to the residents, emphasises Schmidt: „Our commitment to the region and our employees is very important to us so that we can continue to make our contribution to a better life for the next 50 years.“
