Efficient and sustainable packaging, precise and fast weighing, reliable and production-integrated inspection: These are Ishida's topics at Fachpack 2025, with the focus on the newly developed QX 800 traysealer, X-ray inspection systems and multihead weighers. There will also be innovations in cross-machine software.
Weighing, inspecting, packaging: Ishida is using Fachpack 2025 to showcase the latest system technology for the final process steps in production (with the exception of secondary packaging), especially for food products.
As many as four multihead weighers emphasised Ishida's technological leadership in this segment, according to the company. Among other things, models for weighing sticky and sensitive fresh products will be on display in Nuremberg - as well as the world's smallest multihead weigher, the CCW-Micro.
No fewer than five QC systems are representative of the wide range of systems in the „Testing, inspection and detection” field. These include the IX-EN-4093 - an entry-level X-ray inspection system that inspects cups and trays containing dairy products for contamination in Nuremberg - and the IX-EN-2493-Compact X-ray inspection system, which can also perform high-speed foreign object detection on very lightweight tubular bag packaging. Ishida X-ray inspection systems also detect other quality problems such as damaged or misshapen products.
However, the centre of the presentation is clearly the QX-800 traysealer. It is based on the platform of the QX-500, which celebrated its world premiere at interpack 2023. However, the QX-800 was specially developed for production lines with high output. It achieves up to 25 cycles per minute in the standard sealing process and up to 17 in a modified atmosphere (MAP), consumes around 50 % less power compared to its predecessor, the QX-Flex series, and saves more than 40 % of installation space thanks to its compact design.
However, the QX-800 is not only exceptionally fast when packing, but also when changing moulds.
„The tools are very light and can be changed in just five minutes without much effort. This is ideal for companies that want to use their traysealer flexibly.”
Tara O ́Connor, Product Manager Traysealer
The innovative tray transport system of the QX-800 ensures that even difficult products can be conveyed and packaged without overflowing. This avoids product loss - a plus for sustainability.
In Nuremberg, Ishida will also be exhibiting the latest generation of Sentinel software for remote plant monitoring and reporting. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning, Sentinel 5.0 supports users in optimising their production lines and incorporates real-time data from more than just Ishida systems. The software provides users with insights into production performance, alerts them to irregularities and makes recommendations to rectify potential problems.
However, the „in-built“ AI also allows the user to interact better with the machines. For example, the operator can use the integrated AI chatbot to ask Sentinel 5.0 to check certain parameters. Initial applications of the software show Productivity gains of 15 % are quite realistic - without investment and without changes at hardware level.
