The family-owned company Thimm is investing six million euros in the Wörrstadt site by 2023. The plan is to install three folder-gluers with associated peripherals.
This is intended to realise the expansion of the product portfolio launched in 2020 to include sustainable e-commerce packaging and special packaging with high-quality digital, flexo and offset printing as well as merchandise-carrying sales displays. In addition, the pre-press department will be significantly expanded and more closely networked within the Thimm Group.
As part of the investment, the first folder gluer with an additional unit is to be installed in the third quarter. Another new machine with a downstream power packer and a palletising robot are expected to be installed in the second quarter of 2022. A third new machine is planned for 2023, according to the company.
„Our Wörrstadt site is currently developing from a pure display producer into a leading manufacturer of e-commerce packaging and merchandise-carrying sales displays,“ explains Michael Weber, Head of Corporate Strategy + Marketing.
At the same time, the new „Prepress & Print Solutions“ department is currently being created as a central interface for data management, prepress and printing within the Thimm Group. The department is intended to ensure the ongoing development of the digital workflow using pioneering technologies.
