The Thimm Group has received several awards at the Czech packaging prize „Obal Roku“ for intelligent and environmentally friendly shipping solutions. The awards went to the shipping packaging for a book by Czech biathlete Gabriela Koukalová, the „Thimm secureLock“ for baby food manufacturer yamo and the toy gift packaging for a Czech webshop.
The Shipping packaging for books was specially developed for the book „Different“ by multiple medallist Koukalová. The solution consists entirely of Corrugated board and is folded manually around the book. Folding creates a „Deformation zone“, which acts as a buffer during transport and absorbs loads. A handle is integrated into the packaging. A thin silicone thread or an adhesive strip is used to open the packaging. The proportion of foreign matter is less than one per cent. The packaging therefore also fulfils ecological requirements, says Thimm.

Closure system for baby food shipping appealed
The packaging for the young Swiss company „yamo“, which ships baby food, was also honoured. Here, the „Thimm secureLock“ of the 13-member prize jury. This is a Tamper-evident closure made of corrugated cardboard and does not require any external sealing materials.

„For us, this is both motivation and confirmation that we are developing customised and value-added solutions for our e-commerce customers.“
Michael Weber, Head of Corporate Marketing at Thimm, is delighted with the awards, which were presented at the „Pack Summit“ in Prague on 4 October 2018.
Online shop mascot now comes in a game box
Finally, there was a prize for the packaging of the Soft toy Alzák. This is the mascot of the Czech online shop alza.cz. It was originally created in Stretch film packed. Thimm replaced the film packaging with corrugated cardboard packaging in the shape of a rocket. The result is packaging that can also be played with. For example, the design allows the rocket wings to be extended. There is a cut-out on the front for the plush toy's face.
