The VDI/VDE/VDMA 2632 Part 3 guideline proposes procedures for evaluating the classification performance during the acceptance of image processing systems using typical examples from industrial testing technology, which can serve as a guideline for similar cases.
When accepting a classifying image processing system, it is important that the system has the agreed performance and that the assignment to the various defect types is correct with the agreed certainty. Due to the diversity of the characteristics of classifying image processing systems, it is hardly possible to specify a generally valid system for evaluating performance for all tasks.
So that communication is successful
The directive defines the different acceptance concepts, The discussion will also focus on the advantages and disadvantages of different methods, such as acceptance with sample catalogues and acceptance with products from ongoing production. It is aimed equally at users and suppliers of machine vision systems and is intended to help avoid communication pitfalls at an early stage.
Publisher of the guideline VDI/VDE/VDMA 2632 Sheet 3 „Industrial image processing; acceptance of classifying image processing systems“ is the VDI/VDE Society for Measurement and Automation Technology. The guideline was published as a white paper in October 2017 and replaces the draft from September 2016.
