The Italian grape producer Il Visone now uses reusable crates from Tosca for the storage and transport of its products and has thus fundamentally changed its supply chain.
Specialising in the cultivation and supply of fresh grapes, Il Visone has partnered with Tosca to overcome operational challenges, maintain product quality during harvest and storage and achieve its sustainability goals. By introducing Tosca's reusable plastic crates, the grower has been able to fundamentally change its supply chain - with increased efficiency, less waste, optimised processes and a clear strengthening of ecological responsibility.
Il Visone had encountered considerable problems with conventional storage and transport materials: Cardboard packaging and lightweight plastic containers often could not withstand the stresses in cold storage rooms - They buckled, jeopardising the integrity of the grapes. Inconsistent packaging solutions also often led to collapsing pallets, which not only caused inefficiencies and safety risks, but also created unnecessary waste. In addition, bulky, non-foldable crates took up time and resources and limited logistical capacity.

Tosca has developed an innovative solution for Il Visone to overcome the company's key challenges while increasing the performance of the entire supply chain. Tosca's reusable, foldable plastic crates offer an optimal solution for the storage and transport of grapes. With perforated holes for better air circulation, the crates ensure even freshness in cold storage rooms and keep the grapes fresh from August to November. Their robust, stackable design increases the stability of the pallets, reduces the risk of collapse and ensures safer and more reliable storage. Another advantage of the collapsible crates is improved storage and more efficient transport. Il Visone can now move more crates per journey, This lowers logistics costs and reduces the ecological footprint.
The switch to Tosca crates has not only increased logistical efficiency, but also optimised the entire operational process. The foldable crates minimise transport costs between fields and packing houses, save valuable time and reduce emissions. In addition, the well thought-out design of the crates enables Simple storage of empty containers and thus increases the efficiency of work processes. Tosca has also customised the crates provided with the branding of Il Visone, which increases visibility and traceability within the supply chain and at the same time promotes brand awareness.
Sustainable partnership with growth potential
By replacing disposable packaging with Durable, washable and fully reusable crates the company significantly reduces its waste. The enhanced protection offered by Tosca's crates also helps to minimise product damage, reduce food waste and ensure that more grapes arrive at their destination in perfect condition. The stackable and foldable design of the crates helps to optimise transport efficiency. Reduction of carbon emissions while Il Visone's in-house washing system further reduces the environmental impact by eliminating the need for external cleaning services.
Building on the success of this collaboration, Il Visone intends to work with Tosca to explore further opportunities to optimise its operations. For example, the company is utilising Tosca plastic pallets for internal handling and Tosca wooden-look crates for the CRAI retail circle. In the future, a Rental service with flat stacking containers or similar products should be considered in order to further improve operational processes.
