Ogeu Group wants to open up new markets with the beverage can

The French beverage group Ogeu has invested in a new filling line and is thus repositioning itself on the market: for the first time, various Ogeu brands are being packaged in beverage cans.

The French drinks group Ogeu has invested in a new bottling line and is thus repositioning itself in the market: for the first time, various Ogeu brands are being packaged in cans.

The Ogeu Group's extensive range of drinks covers several categories, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic, sparkling and still drinks as well as wine-based beverages. In future, Ogeu will be able to bottle in slim format (15cl and 25cl), in 33cl slim format and in standard cans (33cl and 50cl). Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) has been brought on board as a partner for the production changeover to filling in cans.

Opening up new markets with the beverage can

Ogeu intends to use the investment to open up new sales markets such as. Hard Seltzer, Energy drinks and Canned teas open up new markets. The first products to come from the new line include the energy drinks Truc de Fou and Breizh Elixir as well as the teas Thé Noir Pèche (black tea with peach flavour) and Thé Vert Menthe (green tea with mint), which were launched under the Group's popular water brand Quézac.

In the meantime, Ogeu has expanded the Alqua brand into the trendy and fast-growing Hard seltzer sector introduced. The new bottling line will include all three Alqua flavours - lemon and lime, mangou and pineapple and raspberry - in a slimline can in the 33 cl format with colours inspired by fresh fruit and a clear, modern design.

Production began in April 2021. The cans in the range are available in French supermarkets, other domestic retail outlets and in selected export countries, with some brands also offering home delivery. Further international exports are planned.

The market is increasingly focussing on cans as a packaging option. At the beginning of June, the Dortmund breweries to announce that they have Order worth millions to the KHS Group to realise a new filling line for beverage cans before the end of this year.
