The erasers from the stationery brand Maped are getting new packaging. Ahlstrom, manufacturer of fibre-based materials, and adapa worked together on the solution. The result is fibre-based window packaging.
The Cristal base papers from Ahlstrom are available for transparent packaging. Thanks to the collaboration with adapa and Maped, the three companies have fibre-based window packaging developed for a popular school supply - erasers.
„This collaboration between Ahlstrom, adapa and Maped is an example of our shared commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. By offering a transparent paper alternative, we are giving businesses and consumers the opportunity to find fibre-based alternatives to traditional plastic or film substrates without sacrificing functionality or aesthetics. Collaboration and an open innovation mindset are key to our strategy ‚from Plastic to Purpose‘ and our mission ‚Purify and Protect, with Every Fibre, for a Sustainable World‘. We believe that we can succeed with active and open partners like Maped and adapa who enable innovation across the entire supply chain.“

Cristal becomes Made from natural cellulose fibres, This transparent paper nevertheless offers the same level of functionality and durability as conventional plastic packaging. Through the use of renewable and biodegradable materials, Cristal offers an environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional without compromising on quality.
„The entire process, from paper production to processing, is carried out 100 per cent in France. By working with regional suppliers who offer sustainable practices, our entire product footprint is reduced through this co-operative value chain.“
Chloé Romanet, Product Manager at Maped
„At adapa, we rethink packaging in close collaboration with our customers in order to introduce more sustainable alternatives. In the case of Maped, we were able to fulfil the requirement for transparent, paper-based packaging and at the same time switch from classic blister packaging to a flowpack. We found a fibre-based solution with Ahlstrom's Cristal, which was printed locally in France and laminated against a thin layer of BOPP - which also allowed us to reduce the amount of material used.“
