Tricor invests in plant for heavy-duty corrugated board

A modern production facility for heavy-duty corrugated board is to be built in the Weeze/Goch region. Tricor has invested 170 million euros in the project.

A modern production facility for heavy-duty corrugated board is to be built in the Weeze/Goch region. Tricor Packaging & Logistics AG has invested 170 million euros in the construction of the corrugated board plant, which will also be characterised by a high degree of automation. 

The Tricor Board has announced the start of preparations for the construction of its second corrugated board plant in the Weeze/Goch region (North Rhine-Westphalia). With a planned Production capacity of up to 200 million square metres of heavy-duty corrugated board per year the plant is expected to go into operation in the third quarter of 2025. The company has acquired a 166,000 square metre plot of land.

The new plant will cover around 130,000 square metres and create numerous employment opportunities for employees. The investment of around 170 million euros in this project is in line with Tricor's growth strategy.

„The proximity to the Dutch border played an important role in our decision in favour of this location. This puts us in a better position to cover the Benelux countries, the Ruhr region, northern France and Scandinavia.“

The new plant will be able to, produce heavy and conventional corrugated board at a planned production speed of 400 m/min and a working width of 2.80 metres. In addition to the corrugator, the plant will be equipped with rotary and flatbed die-cutting machines as well as jumbo inliners with working widths of 3.2 to 6.5 metres. The plant will include fully automated production lines for Tricor's scalable innovations, such as Quick Bin and Quick Box. The plant will achieve a high level of automation. This will be achieved by Modern production facilities, fully automated transport systems, high-bay warehouse technology and process control technology can be achieved.

The new plant will be built to high energy efficiency standards with the aim of minimising the need for heating in winter and cooling in summer. In addition, the power supply for the plant a 3.3 megawatt photovoltaic system integrated. „By investing in efficient and resource-saving production technologies, the new plant fits seamlessly into our sustainable strategy,“ says Klaus Wiblishauser, Chief Operations Officer at Tricor.
