The Tricor Group officially opened its plant in the Weeze-Goch industrial park with a ceremony. The company speaks of one of the most modern production sites for heavy-duty corrugated board in Europe and emphasises its importance for the region and the Group.
According to Tricor, it has invested 175 to 180 million euros in the approximately 170,000 square metre site. More than 200 new jobs are to be created. The plant is part of the globally active Rengo/Tri-Wall Group. Speakers at the launch included Tricor CEO Philipp Kosloh and Rengo President & COO Yosuke Kawamoto; the Japanese Consul General Yoshitaka Tsunoda also attended, according to reports.
Technology and capacity
The site is equipped with fully automated transport systems, robotics and a 6.5 metre inline machine. In future, up to 140,000 tonnes of heavy-duty corrugated board are to be produced per year. Representatives from mechanical and plant engineering as well as architecture and project management also took part in a subsequent discussion round; they emphasised the innovative aspects of the plant.
Energy and sustainability
According to the company, the plant fulfils the KfW40 standard. The energy supply includes a 3.2-megawatt photovoltaic system and three combined heat and power units, which should reduce the energy requirements of the machinery. According to the company, heating and cooling are operated in a resource-saving manner.
Regional categorisation
The importance for the economy and employment in the Lower Rhine region was emphasised in contributions from local and district politicians. The project is the result of several years of inter-municipal site development by Weeze and Goch. From a business perspective, the new hub strengthens visibility and performance in the Kleve district beyond the region.
Tricor has been part of the Rengo/Tri-Wall Group since 2019. Based in Bad Wörishofen (Bavaria), the company employs around 2,100 people at 17 locations in Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovenia.
