With the new fibre-based barrier paper UPM Asendo Pro, UPM Specialty Papers, a specialist in technically advanced papers, is expanding its range of sustainable and recyclable packaging papers.

UPM Asendo Pro barrier paper made from renewable raw materials is a double-sided coated paper that offers various advantages as an easily recyclable mono-material. The print side of the barrier paper can be used as the basis for sophisticated graphics, and in addition to improved grease and moisture resistance, a mineral oil barrier provides Increased product safety.

UPM Asendo Pro is therefore suitable for Dry, greasy and frozen foods as well as for packaging where high-performance printing properties are of great importance. UPM Asendo Pro was developed co-operatively

The paper is the result of a holistic market- and user-orientated process. During the development phase of the new barrier paper, the company says it worked closely with paper converters, packaging line manufacturers and brand owners to test product properties and gather additional feedback. The collaborative development process also included optimising the product's appealing print performance. „Collaboration is central to UPM's philosophy and was therefore an important aspect of this process.
