UV barrier for food packaging

Tosaf's newly developed UV9389PE EU barrier solution ensures that Transparent packaging films have a high barrier effect against UV radiation, even at low thicknesses in the wavelength range from 200 nm to 380 nm. This additive efficiently protects food from discolouration, vitamin and flavour loss as a result of the degrading effect of artificial light to which it is exposed during storage, shipping and on the shelf. In this way, the new UV blocker helps to minimise the Prevent food waste due to premature spoilage.

In contrast to conventional mineral-based products of this type, the optical properties and in particular the Transparency of films treated with UV9389PE EU almost completely preserved. Further advantages are the efficiency even at very low dosages and the minimal impact on the behaviour during the production and further processing of the films, including printing and lamination. In addition to foodstuffs, the range of applications also includes other industrial film applications in which the Protection of sensitive goods from UV rays is required.

The new UV blocker UV9389PE EU complements Tosaf's broad portfolio of stabiliser masterbatches to maximise resistance to UV light. Applications range from agricultural films, stretch, shrink and industrial packaging to big bags (FIBC) and include injection moulded parts as well as extruded pipes and sheets, fibres and nonwovens, roofing membranes and many others.
