Valensina wants to reorganise packaging

The Valensina Group has presented its first sustainability report and plans to make its current packaging more sustainable. In future, the company wants to reduce its overall use of plastics.

At three production sites in Germany, the Valensina Group fills approx. 240 million litres fruit juices and nectars as well as fruit juice drinks in various chilled and non-chilled containers. The family business has now launched its first Sustainability report which defines five areas that the company intends to work on intensively in the future. Among other things, the company wants to Development of environmentally friendly packaging force.

„We have to lead by example and have therefore set ourselves clear goals for the coming years in various stages of the manufacturing process as well as in environmental and social issues in the supply chain in order to make our company more sustainable,“ say the two Managing Directors Tino Mocken and Felix Müller. „This sustainability report is our first. It complies with the demanding international GRI standards. This makes us one of the pioneers among medium-sized companies in our industry. In future, we will present such a report every two years to give an account of our activities,“ says Mocken.

Valensina puts packaging to the test

Packaging is one of the five areas of action identified. According to the Valensina Group, packaging is „one of the Core competences“ of the company. Currently, the vast majority of packaging materials are made of plastic. One of the most important and urgent tasks is therefore to minimise the use of plastic packaging. Sustainability aspects and to reduce the need for plastics overall. „For the period up to 2025, we have set ourselves the goal of continuing to more environmentally friendly materials in use, replace packaging accordingly and make it lighter, as well as testing our own packaging for recyclability,“ explains Tino Mocken.
