Dr Lukas Burkhardt will take over as CEO of Vetropack Group on 1 January 2026. He succeeds Johann Reiter, who is retiring after eight successful years as CEO.
Vetropack Group, one of Europe's leading manufacturers of glass packaging for food and beverages, has announced a change in the company's management: Dr Lukas Burkhardt will succeed Johann Reiter as CEO on 1 January 2026. Reiter, who has led the Group since 2018, will retire at the end of 2025.
In Burkhardt, Vetropack is bringing an internationally experienced leader to the helm who knows the glass industry and large industrial structures inside out.
Extensive experience and international expertise
Swiss national Dr Lukas Burkhardt is currently a member of the Management Board of Gerresheimer AG, where he has been responsible for the Primary Packaging Glass Division since 2018. He previously held management positions at Audi, the Rieter/Autoneum Group in Asia and as COO of the Franke Group, where he was in charge of global production at over 30 locations.
Burkhardt holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from ETH Zurich and combines technical expertise with a strategic mindset - a combination that now puts him in charge of around 3,600 employees and a sales volume of CHF 842.1 million (2024).
Handover after strategic reorganisation
Under the leadership of Johann Reiter, Vetropack has achieved important milestones over the past eight years. These include the 2030+ strategy, which focuses on internationalisation and sustainability, as well as the introduction of thermally tempered lightweight glass bottles - one of the most significant product innovations in the glass packaging sector in recent years, according to the company.
