The glass packaging manufacturer Vidrala has signed a binding agreement to acquire the Chilean company Cristalerías Toro. With this step, the Group is further expanding its presence in Latin America and strengthening its geographical diversification.
The Vidrala Group, based in Llodio/Spain, has agreed to acquire 100 per cent of the shares in Cristalerías Toro. The Chilean company produces and distributes glass containers and is based in the greater Santiago de Chile area. It supplies customers from the food and beverage sector, including international brands that, according to the company, fit in well with Vidrala's existing customer base.
Strategic expansion in Latin America
The transaction is part of Vidrala's internationalisation strategy. The Group is already active in Southern Europe, the United Kingdom and, since 2023, Brazil. By entering Chile, Vidrala is expanding its industrial base in a region that is characterised by a strong agricultural and beverage industry and is considered a strategically important market for glass packaging.
The purchase price is around 77 million euros. The transaction is subject to certain conditions and is expected to be finalised at the beginning of 2026. According to the company, the Group's net debt should remain below 0.5 times annual EBITDA even after the takeover has been completed.
