To kick off the cycle & circle Sustainability Tour 2025, Matthias Laux visits ILLIG packaging solutions GmbH in Heilbronn. The focus is on one of the most exciting innovations in the field of sustainable packaging technologies: dry fibre technology.

In conversation with Dr Tobias Beiß, who sees himself as a „trailblazer for pioneering processing technologies“, the advantages of this system become clear - both ecologically and in terms of process technology.

Dry Fibre Technology enables the production of dimensionally stable packaging made from natural fibres - without the need for a water bath. Instead, it is moulded using a hot air process that is energy-efficient, fast and conserves resources.
Compared to conventional wet moulding processes, dry fibre offers clear advantages:

No drying process necessary
High cycle times and process stability
Reduced energy and water consumption
Use of renewable raw materials

In the video, Tobias Beiß explains how the technology works, for which applications it is particularly suitable - and why sustainable solutions in the packaging industry are not only feasible today, but also relevant to the market.

📍 This episode is part of the four-part cycle & circle 2025 tour, in which packaging journal editor Matthias Laux visits companies by bike that are actively promoting sustainability in the packaging industry.
