Free from plastic and completely compostable. Food packaging made from sugar cane has been around for some time. However, a food tech start-up from Israel has gone one step further than others with its developments.

In the search for packaging without residues, several developers have already come across the Sugar cane come. More precisely: to Bagasse. These fibres remain after the cane has been pressed out during sugar production. The first disposable plates, cups and packaging made from bagasse are already available.

The Israeli FoodTech start-up W-Cycle has now given sugar cane packaging even more possibilities with its „SupraPulp“. While conventional pulp products are unable to absorb liquids and oils, SupraPulp containers are Oil and water resistant, so that they cannot absorb liquids or leak.

Food packaged with SupraPulp can therefore be frozen and heated in an oven, convection oven, steamer or microwave. The developers therefore see their product as an ideal replacement for plastic, aluminium or foam containers. It is also 100% Compostable, durable, non-toxic and metal-free.
