Walther Faltsysteme is showcasing a foldable transport and storage container for the fashion industry at FachPack 2018. The „Fast Fashion Container“ is the result of a collaboration between the Kevelaer-based company and the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. The container is also suitable as a mobile wardrobe and for relocation logistics.
From the warehouse directly onto the sales floor: Walther folding systems has developed the „Fast fashion container“ has launched an innovative solution for fast-moving store logistics in the fashion industry. In the rollable and lockable containers with external dimensions of 800 x 600 x 1730 millimetres, clothing remains protected from rain and environmental influences, but also from the eyes of unauthorised persons. The Reusable transport solution for hanging and flat-packed goods guarantees the traceability of goods routes thanks to RFID codes and barcode labels.
The idea for the fast-fashion container was developed in a joint project with the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences. The aim was to develop an intelligent and sustainable transport solution for the Fashion logistics to develop.
Student business plan for fast fashion container
Under industry-orientated conditions, interdisciplinary project groups at the Faculty of Textile and Clothing Technology the task of designing the packaging solution and creating a Business plan to create. It was a particular challenge for the students to find the ideal combination of plastic components and to determine the manufacturing process. „Walther Faltsysteme showed great interest in us students and our work. Project manager Oliver van Neerven and managing director Thomas Walther were always on hand to answer our questions,“ explains project manager Greta Salewski.
Based on the students' designs, the specialist for foldable reusable transport packaging developed the Prototype and made the product marketable. „This was our first product development with the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences,“ says Oliver van Neerven. „The students“ methodically developed business plan, which analyses the product from different angles, added particular value for us. Our expert knowledge and the students' suggestions resulted in the fast fashion container, a container that is perfectly tailored to the requirements of fashion logistics."
Unpacking and preparation of clothing is not necessary
The fast fashion container offers a Useful volume of 615 litres on a Base area of 800 x 600 millimetres. The container is also optionally available in a basic size of 1200 x 800 millimetres. The plastic transport containers consist of a pallet with castors, the „Folding ring“, collapsible container walls and a lid. They are equipped as standard with a Clothes rail for hanging garments. Thanks to the lockable door, there is no need to repack the garments. This eliminates the need for cumbersome unpacking and preparation of clothing in the shop.
Smooth-running, low-noise castors facilitate handling and fast transport without additional loading aids. As there are four swivel castors, the container can also be moved safely in narrow sales areas. The folding ring can be customised in the corporate design and thus becomes an advertising space. In addition, the solution is also suitable for Transport of clothing in the Removal logistics or can be used as a mobile cloakroom at events.
For the return transport of the container, the pallets and lids can be alternately stacked on top of each other. The castors and clothes rails do not need to be removed for this. The rings can be folded together and stored one behind the other in an assembled fast fashion container. The result is a Reduction of the total volume by up to 60 per cent.
