Screen Graphic Solutions has finalised the development of its Truepress PAC 520P, a new water-based inkjet press for paper packaging, and is now making the system available worldwide. The machine will also be on display at drupa.

In recent years, the increasing diversification of consumer needs has led brand owners to use different strategies to generate interest in their products and increase their marketability. Even for individual items, they now often use multiple packaging designs and link each product with targeted digital information. Product packaging is also often changed in rapid cycles, driven by sales campaigns.

At the same time, the growing awareness of environmental issues has led to many countries increasingly regulating the use of plastics and encouraging a shift to plastic-based products. to more easily recyclable packaging made from natural raw materials is taking place. The traditional analogue printing machines used by processors are often unable to cope with this shift towards increasing product diversification and new, sustainable forms of packaging.

Screen has therefore developed its Truepress PAC 520P, a new type of printing machine for paper packaging that meets the industry's ever-increasing demands for quality, productivity and safety. The system is now Available on the markets worldwide.The Truepress PAC 520P can print on media up to 520 mm wide with an outstanding resolution of 600 x 900 dpi and a speed of up to 80 metres per minute, thanks to a drying mechanism specially optimised for paper packaging.

The Truepress PAC 520P uses the Truepress NP ink developed by Screen. This Water-based ink complies with European food and safety regulations and directives. The system also has various environmentally friendly features, such as the use of lightweight, easily recyclable bag-in-box units for the ink tanks.

The Truepress PAC 520P is a a digital system, which drastically reduces pre-press and print preparation compared to conventional processes. It also significantly shortens production times and reduces the number of operators required on site and their workload.

Even for packaging runs with high added value, such as. mixed, small batches and articles with variable design, The press is able to maintain throughput without compromising productivity. This enables converters to create a print environment that is able to support a wider range of applications and serve a more diverse portfolio of customers.
