With the SolmixBag, Mondi has developed a water-soluble bag for the construction industry. The paper packaging for dry mortar bonds with the product during the mixing process and thus avoids waste.
SolmixBag is a single-layer paper bag for storing and transporting dry building materials such as cement and dry mortar products. It is designed to dissolve when it comes into contact with water during the mixing process. the fibre of the packaging simply bonds with the product during mixing. This avoids waste, reduces the cost of disposing of paper waste and minimises dust on the construction site, as the bag is simply placed in the mixer without having to open it first.
The bag is produced in-house thanks to the company's integrated value chain: SolmixBag is made from Mondi's water-soluble sack kraft paper and is produced in-house.The new sack uses 20 per cent less paper than the industry-standard two-ply paper sacks. The solution can be filled on existing filling machines and is available in standard sizes, allowing customers a smooth transition from their existing solutions. SolmixBag offers the same strength and durability as its predecessors, with good printing results for a high-quality, outstanding appearance on the shelf.
Mondi has worked with its long-standing customer Baumit to bring SolmixBag for dry mortar to the market.
