Constantia Flexibles has introduced EcoTwistPaper for the packaging of confectionery. The innovative, wax-free packaging is made entirely of paper and focusses on recyclability.

EcoTwistPaper was developed in collaboration with the Confederation of European Paper Industries (CEPI) tested for reprocessability and achieved 90 out of 100 points for its printed material.

The packaging paper does not contain any components that are not fully compatible with paper recycling, such as wax or polymer coatings. It offers good product protection and good wrapping properties. Furthermore the product is not subject to the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD), as it does not contain any plastic coatings.

The softness of the paper, achieved through advanced mechanical treatments, makes it ideal for candy packaging. In addition, it is designed so that it is compatible with existing machines and can be easily recycled in the paper recycling stream.

The introduction of EcoTwistPaper fulfils the increasing demands from consumers and regulatory authorities for more sustainable packaging solutions. This innovative product enables manufacturers and brands to present their products in packaging that is visually appealing, practical and designed for recycling.
